Huawei unleashed its latest camera-focused flagship smartphones on the Chinese market in April 2024. However, their successors might not follow that rhythm, according to a well-known leaker. Instead, they will be beaten to a launch by other devices such as the OEM's alleged "masterpiece" of a clamshell smartphone instead.

Huawei's non-Mate flagship handsets were the first to make the switch from their traditional P-series branding in 2024. However, those now expecting more Pura phones with typically distinctive camera humps in the second quarter of this year might have to wait a little longer.

A launch event for the successors to the Pura 70, 70 Pro, Pro+ and top-end Ultra have been "postponed" until May to June 2025, according to the typically knowledgeable Weibo-based leaker Fixed Focus Digital

The tipster also now asserts that the Pocket 3 will arrive sooner, albeit in March rather than February as suggested earlier. The clamshell smartphone is backed to blindside its rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 out of the water with "new masterpiece" features, although they have yet to be outlined thus far.

Should these new rumors prove true, the Pocket 3 might be first to debut with the latest HarmonyOS features. It is still unlikely to best devices such as the Pura 80 Ultra in terms of new XMAGE camera hardware, however.
