The Pura 80 Ultra is reportedly equipped to dominate the smartphone arena (as its camera hump is projected to dominate its rear panel) in terms of videography as well as photography, according to the typically reliable leaker Fixed Focus Digital.
The Ultra's recording prowess is nothing short of "terrifying", according to the tipster - which, if true, might be due to the smartphone's upgrade to the first-gen SmartSens SC5A0CS 1-inch sensor.
The camera has allegedly been developed in-house by Huawei, and might be joined by a color temperature sensor that might also be due an upgrade, albeit to 2MP (as opposed to 1.6MP in the Pura 70 Ultra) rather than 5MP as speculated earlier.
Fixed Focus Digital also now asserts that Huawei will "most likely" open Pura 80-series pre-orders after the next public holiday in China - which is the Dragon Boat Festival that starts today (May 31, 2025) and runs until June 2.
The 80 Ultra and its siblings are apparently destined for a formal release thereafter, although that might not take place until July 2025.
