Huawei has now confirmed leaker suspicions that it had a new pair of wireless earbuds in the works, although it turns out that Fixed Focus Digital's "Arc" is actually to be known as FreeArc.
Like the Nothing peripherals that are currently $60 off their normal list price at $129 on Amazon, they combine the open-ear concept with ear-hooks.
Unlike their FreeClip forebears, they are overtly pitched at athletes and gym-goers, albeit with a similar C-bridge design intended to optimize their balance, comfort and fit.
On that note, the FreeArc hooks are made of nickel-titanium "memory alloy" wire encased in skin-friendly silicone.
Their high-sensitivity drivers have a surface area of 17x12mm, augmented with titanium-coated PU diaphragms for "powerful" bass.
The buds are rated for up to 28 hours of use between charges, and are to be Huawei's first IP57-rated accessories (for "worry-free" exposure to sweat and splashes) on their formal debut worldwide during Huawei's upcoming major event slated to take place in Kuala Lumpur on February 18, 2025.
In the meantime, the FreeArc buds are projected to ship at around $125 thanks to their appearance on the Japanese Greenfunding website, where they can be backed for 14,100 yen (~$93), which is 75% of their eventual 18,800 yen retail price.
The cutting-edge Mate XT tri-foldable smartphone is also due to become a global product alongside the new type of Huawei earphone - as might the new Huawei Band 10.
