In the last few days, various sources have begun speculating about the prospect of Huawei releasing a new foldable of some kind. For instance, Digital Chat Station suggested that Huawei may soon introduce a third-generation Pocket foldable as a fresh Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr (curr. $699.99 on Amazon) rival.
While the essence of that rumour may be true, Huawei's next foldable is unlikely to launch under its Pocket brand. Instead, the company has now confirmed details of a new Pura series launch event, evidence of which we have embedded below. As the screenshots below show, the 'Pura Pioneer Festival' will commence at 14:30 CST (06:30 UTC) on March 20.
Seemingly, Huawei has offered clues about what to expect on March 20, too. In a separate teaser, Huawei shows someone sunbathing with an open book on their chest before cutting to a man swimming the length of a narrow pool. By our interpretation, these are nods to the 21:9 aspect ratio display of its Pocket 2 clamshell foldable, which it released just over a year ago.
The video then goes on to show the pool being expanded before zooming out to reveal the phrase '1610 Open Your Imagination'. This expanded pool has a 3:2 aspect ratio, which Digital Chat Station mentioned when discussing the Huawei Pocket 3. Incidentally, the iPhone Fold is rumoured to leverage the same aspect ratio. As a result, Huawei's Pura Pioneer Festival may tease what is to come from Apple's first foldable, by extension.
