Unimatic has once again teamed up with horological design firm Massena Lab and forged a new bold matte orange color retro-futuristic GMT watch, the U1-SPG NASA Artemis Limited Edition. The timepiece is meant to be a tribute to the pioneering spirit of the NASA Artemis campaign. Unimatic x Massen Lab’s latest limited edition is based on the Modello Uno GMT, which shares the same architecture and movement. However, the only difference is that the U1-SPG has bright colors and specific markings.
The timepiece features a 40 mm stainless steel burnt orange Cerakote-coated case, which pays tribute to the hue of the SLS rocket used for the Artemis missions. The stainless steel case is finished with a deep charcoal Cerakote-coated 120-click unidirectional bezel with a screw down at the 3’ o'clock position and a 60-minute scale. The closed solid steel caseback is decorated with an engraving of the Artemis mission logo and the individual number out of 99.
The matte black-finished dial is adorned with a vintage NASA worm logo above 6 o’clock and old radium Super-LumiNova-coated sword hands and hour markers, providing better visibility in low-light conditions. At the heart of the U1-SPG is Seiko’s automatic NH34A movement, which runs at a 3 Hz frequency and provides about 42 hours of power reserve.
Despite being inspired by space exploration, the U1-SPG NASA Artemis Limited Edition is a real dive watch with 300 m water resistance and 2.5 mm sapphire glass on top, meaning it’s built to withstand every water adventure.
The Unimatic x Massena Lab U1-SPG NASA Artemis Limited Edition is priced at $1,295 and is now available via Massena Lab’s official website. Note that this bold space watch is a limited edition of only 99 units.
