Huawei has bid goodbye to its Porsche Design partnership. In its place arrives 'Ultimate Design', a new brand that the company has debuted with the Mate 60 RS. Equipped with Kunlun Glass 2 and a ceramic back, the Mate 60 RS also retains all of the flagship features of the Mate 60 Pro and Mate 60 Pro Plus.

Barely two weeks have passed since Huawei released the Mate 60 Pro Plus, a flagship that contained a few hardware improvements over the Mate 60 Pro. However, the company has now superseded the Mate 60 Pro Plus in its product stack with the Mate 60 RS, a smartphone that it launched alongside the MatePad Pro 13.2. For reference, it appears that the Kirin 9000S powers both the Mate 60 RS and MatePad Pro 13.2, although Huawei has not confirmed as much in its product listings.

Either way, the Mate 60 RS is effectively a rebodied Mate 60 Pro Plus. Thus, the former has a 6.82-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 2,760 x 1,260 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate and an LTPO backplane for providing variable refresh rates. Additionally, Huawei has installed Kunlun Glass 2, the durability of which has recently been shown in a PBKreviews video. Unlike the Mate 60 Pro Plus, Huawei complements Kunlun Glass 2 with a ceramic back panel that should be more scratch-resistant than its glass equivalent.

Moreover, the Mate 60 RS has an octagonal camera housing that protects the same 48 MP primary, 48 MP telephoto and 40 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras that Huawei uses in the Mate 60 Pro Plus. As with the Mate 60 Pro Plus, the Mate 60 RS' primary camera has an f/1.4-f/4.0 variable aperture and OIS to improve image clarity. Furthermore, Huawei has included a 5,000 mAh battery, IP68 certification and satellite call capabilities.

The Mate 60 RS is available in China with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage for CNY 11,999 (~US$1,646) and CNY 12,999 (~US$1,784), respectively. Huawei has not confirmed whether it intends to sell the Mate 60 RS globally yet, as is the case with the MatePad Pro 13.2. Considering that the company outlined that the Mate 60 Pro would remain a Chinese exclusive, we imagine the same will apply to the Mate 60 RS.
