Xiaomi 14 spotted with power brick upgrade in new leak
Xiaomi's next vanilla flagship Android smartphone now has even better odds of launching with a long overdue charging upgrade. The 14 may have been certified to use the same new power brick as the top-end 13 Ultra: an accessory equipped with gallium nitride (GaN) technology and a single USB port.
Anyone hoping for a vanilla Xiaomi flagship that could charge any faster than 67W for a change may have had their hopes dashed with the release of the 13. However, it now seems the OEM might be able to raise them again with a new tip purporting to confirm an upgrade in the next-gen 14.
In a development somewhat bitingly described as "an upgrade actually visible to the naked eye", Digital Chat Station has posted a 3C certification for a new Xiaomi device with a model number previously linked to the standard 14. The "23127PN0CC" has indeed been tested for compatibility with the new accessory as spotted prior to its introduction as the 13 Ultra's 90W wall-wart.
The MDY-14-EC is also marketed as a GaN product - however, its need for a USB type-A to -C cable might strike some potential 14 buyers as somewhat of a backwards step. Nevertheless, the device's ability to use it might help bridge the specs gulf between it and the higher-end 14 Pro on the series' reportedly imminent launch.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
