Xiaomi 14 Pro tipped to launch with upgraded 11 Ultra-style design
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is about as up-to-date as an Android flagship smartphone can be; however, its successor is now backed to outshine it - in terms of looks, at least. The 14 Pro is slated to revive (and improve upon) the widely-praised design of the 11 Ultra, a device that laid the groundwork for the brand-new 13 Ultra's top-end, Leica-branded potential for mobile photography prowess.
Xiaomi may have disappointed some fans when it ditched the 11 Ultra's distinctive camera hump for the round housing meant to evoke classic Leica lenses in the premium Android flagship's successors the 12S Ultra and freshly-launched 13 Ultra. However, their series' design roots might get a comeback (reportedly by popular demand) in the form of the upcoming 14 Pro.
Xiaomi Industrial Design director Wei Xu has reportedly responded to fan queries at to what the 13 Pro's successor will look like with a claim that it will be "more amazing" than the 11 Ultra. That assertion has led to speculation that the former super-flagship's looks will return in a next-gen smartphone.
Then again, there is no guarantee that this means the 14 Pro will launch with the 11 Ultra's exclusive secondary display, particularly as Xiaomi was apparently so eager to dump it within a generation. However, it may be a good indication that the OEM may take the 13 Pro's square camera hump and make it rectangular in its 2024 counterpart.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
