Xiaomi confirms POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro global launch date
Xiaomi has announced launch plans for the POCO F5 series. As expected, the POCO F5 series will consist of the base POCO F5 and the POCO F5 Pro. While the company has not revealed any details about the POCO F5 Pro yet, hands-on photos of the POCO F5 Pro have already surfaced online. The same applies to the POCO F5, while both have appeared on Geekbench in the last few weeks.
Regardless, POCO and Qualcomm have hinted at what is in store for the POCO F5. Specifically, Qualcomm has confirmed that the POCO F5 will utilise the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2, which debuted in the Redmi Note 12 Turbo and the Realme GT Neo5 SE. Based on early benchmarks, the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 should perform more like a recent Snapdragon 8 series SoC than the Snapdragon 778G it replaces.
Meanwhile, POCO's teasers all but confirm that the POCO F5 is the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. For reference, the latter features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, a 5,000 mAh battery and a triple camera set-up consisting of 64 MP primary, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 2 MP macro cameras. In comparison, the POCO F5 Pro is expected to arrive as a rebadged Redmi K60 with a smaller battery powering a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, a 1440p display and another 64 MP primary camera. The POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro will launch on May 9 at 13:00 UTC. However, POCO's teasers suggest that only the POCO F5 will be headed to India.
