Rumor | iQOO Neo8 SoC revealed ahead of new Android smartphone's launch
iQOO has put a lot into hyping its Neo8 Pro ahead of its next major product event, to an extent that might cause fans to wonder if a vanilla Neo7 successor is even coming to join it. According to the latest rumors, however, the 8 does indeed exist, although it may indeed be the afterthought it seems to be thus far.
Nevertheless, it is now projected to launch as a bargain alternative to the Neo8 Pro, having the ex-flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC rather than the new Dimensity 9200+ of its top-end counterpart. This rumor is based on the appearance of a new device from iQOO's parent Vivo on Geekbench.
It has shown up as the "vivo V2301A", whereas the Neo8 Pro is thought to have done so as the V2302A, with all the characteristics of an 8 Gen 1-based device (8 cores at up to 3GHz and the code-name taro included) and the high single- and multi-core scores to go with it.
Then again, both sets of results are looking more and more sedate as brands like iQOO move on to new generations such as that of the 9200+ instead. Then again, the Neo8 is thought to get the same premium vegan leather finish and dual rear cameras of its Pro sibling.
It is also slated to launch alongside a first-gen iQOO Pad - with a newly confirmed 144Hz 2.8K display and over 14,400mm2 of advanced cooling material inside - on May 23, 2023 in China.
