The Android gaming brand iQOO has a Neo series with a current flagship powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. However, its next generation is rumored to have the potential to go beyond even that amount of power with the Dimensity 9000+ processor instead.
This "Neo7" has just popped up in a new leak courtesy of the eminent leaker Digital Chat Station. This one passes over its alleged flat 120Hz display over in favor of its rear cameras. Accordingly, it also contains a reminder that iQOO is in fact owned by Vivo.
This relationship manifests itself in ways such as the OEM's IMX766V, a 50MP sensor Vivo claims to have customized in partnership with Sony, popping up in devices such as the 2020 flagship iQOO 8 Pro. Now, the same camera is allegedly also coming to the Neo7.
The leaker characterizes it as an "upgrade" over the Neo6, which, considering that main sensor had PDAF and OIS, might be saying something. On the other hand, Digital Chat Station also indicates that its "sub-camera" gets a "little worse".
Then again, as the Neo7 is thought to emerge as what amounts to an iQOO 10 with different silicon, this might be a trade-off worth making at the putative smartphone's launch.
