Although at its launch, the game catalog of the Nintendo Switch 2 was quite poor, new titles have appeared over the past few weeks. And soon, a very popular game from the Final Fantasy license could make its appearance on this platform.
This information comes from Video Games Chronicle during an interview with Naoki Yoshida during Gamescom 2025. Indeed, he mentioned the different advantages that certain games from the Final Fantasy license could bring if they were integrated into the Nintendo Switch 2. And that’s not all, because he shows himself quite confident, while waiting for good news in the near future.
Thus, during this interview, he adds the following:
"For me, it’s just my aim to provide Final Fantasy 14 and 16 to as many players as possible, and I hope that as many players as possible will be able to enjoy those two games. We are putting in our best efforts to ensure that this happens, so it’s fine to convey to your readership that I consider the possibilities very positively, and we are putting in our best efforts, so I hope players will look forward to possibilities in the future. But I just ask for a little bit more time."
Regarding the arrival of Final Fantasy XIV on the Nintendo Switch 2, Yoshida sees several advantages. Indeed, he thinks that this title would allow players to enjoy quiet moments, such as those related to crafting or gathering resources. Nevertheless, for raids, he specifies that this would be more efficient on PC.
Finally, he is enthusiastic about the attraction of new players for this type of game:
"When it comes to players who haven’t played Final Fantasy 14 before, the younger generation of players, if they started playing Final Fantasy 14 on Switch 2, of course being an MMO, it might be a new genre for them, and I would be super excited to get these new players into this genre and enjoying the game as well."
Therefore, he ends this interview by specifying that he has already spoken with Nintendo and that things are looking promising. Thus, it will be necessary to be patient and wait for official announcements from the Japanese company to know if Final Fantasy XIV will be present on this console.
