Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer repeatedly hinted that Xbox games would appear on the Switch 2. Still, excluding Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, there has been no definitive news on ports. That changed at Gamescom 2025, with confirmation that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would release on Nintendo’s console in 2026.
The Gamescom trailer showcased The Order of the Giants DLC, which had been anticipated since the game’s 2024 debut. PC, Xbox, and PS5 players can investigate the secrets of Rome starting on September 4th. However, more surprising was seeing the Switch 2 logo at the end of the video.
It’s uncertain if the Switch 2 version will ship with the DLC or have it as a separately purchased add-on. Regardless, former Xbox exclusive games have long been expected to arrive on the handheld. In January 2025, Phil Spencer restated Microsoft’s commitment to Nintendo’s system. Yet, major happenings like the Xbox Games Showcase and Summer Game Fest passed without any announcements.
Gamescom 2025 finally broke the silence with the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle trailer. Now, the question is what other Xbox games could transition to the Switch 2. Sea of Thieves, Forza Motorsport, Starfield, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are all likely candidates.
The Future of Xbox games on the Switch 2
The improved Switch 2 specs align with Microsoft’s multi-platform campaign. More processing power and memory support demanding third-party projects like Cyberpunk 2077. While CD Projekt Red’s RPG runs smoothly, results have been more mixed with other titles. Switch 2 games like Madden 26 and the upcoming FC 26 have frustrated players by only running at 30 fps.
It’s not guaranteed that Xbox exclusive games will arrive on the console promptly. Gamescom featured a Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 trailer, but without any Switch 2 reference. Microsoft has an agreement to release the shooter franchise on the Nintendo systems. Even so, rumors are that the developers need more time to optimize the game for the Switch 2.
