AYN Technologies will not stop drip-feeding information about its AYN Thor gaming handheld. Earlier today, the company revealed that its first clamshell gaming handheld would feature dual OLED displays to get one over of the Ayaneo Pocket DS. Now, it has shared initial hardware specifications on Discord, which we have reproduced below.
According to the company, the AYN Thor measures 150 x 94 x 25.6 mm and weighs roughly 380 g. In other words, the AYN Thor will be marginally larger than the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 (curr. $269.99 on Amazon), which comes in at 140.5 x 89.5 x 24.4 mm while weighing almost 20% less at 306 g. Meanwhile, the Ayaneo Pocket DS is comparatively hefty with a 179.8 x 101.8 x 25 mm and 540 g footprint.
A slightly larger chassis allows AYN to install a 20% larger battery than the 5,000 mAh capacity offered by the Pocket Flip 2. Moreover, AYN Technologies will complement the Thor's 6,000 mAh battery with a Snapdragon 865 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset to choose from. In short, the Thor's entry-level edition should be about as powerful as the Pocket Flip 2. By contrast, its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 edition should reach Ayn Odin2 series performance levels. Pricing and availability remain unknown for the time being, though.
