Following a teaser that was released a few days ago, Asus's ROG sub-brand has provided a glimpse of its new controller. Called the ROG Raikiri II Xbox Wireless, the new controller, as the name indicates, pairs to an Xbox via a wireless connection unlike the Raikiri Pro wireless controller that only works via a wired USB connection with an Xbox.
The ROG Raikiri II has a different design from the first-generation. While it retains the all-black paint job and the asymmetrical joysticks, the Raikiri II now has an RGB ROG logo that replaces the RGB light bar on its predecessor. In addition, the ABXY buttons are no longer colored while the round Xbox button is now a shield and sits closer to the top. There's still no OLED display though like you have on the Raikiri Pro. We guess Asus is making that a pro feature as it does with its ROG smartphones.
Asus says the ROG Raikiri II features TMR joysticks which replace the analog joysticks of its predecessors. TMR joysticks reduce the likelihood of stick drift and have an increased precision. The controller also has a 1,000 Hz polling rate.
While the rest of the specs such as the battery life are yet to be revealed, we know from the first teaser that the controller has an audio jack and back buttons. Asus is also yet to reveal how much the controller costs and when it will be available to buy. However, we think it will cost more than the 8BitDo Ultimate 3-mode Wireless Controller for Xbox Rare 40th Edition (available on Amazon for $89.99).
