Garmin has released software version 12.70 for the Venu X1 smartwatch. This is a major update for the wearable, which was released in June 2025. It adds several new features to this premium watch and addresses several bug fixes.
According to the change log for Garmin Venu X1 software version 12.70, it gains some of the tools which arrived with the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches. These include Evening Report, a summary of your day to read before bed, and a weekly Running Tolerance estimate. The Running Economy glance shows the energy cost of aerobic running, and you can also track step speed loss data with an HRM accessory.
For triathletes, the Venu X1 gets support for adaptive training plans and other multisport workouts. Plus, Track Run has been added to Daily Suggested Workouts, and laps can be automatically noted for timing gates at GPS locations. On top of this, users can now create custom focus modes, and there is a range of unnamed bug fixes.
At the time of writing, software version 12.70 has been pushed to 20% of users of the Garmin Venu X1 smartwatch (curr. $799.99 at Amazon). It will automatically reach your device when connected to Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express. Alternatively, it can be manually downloaded when you go to Menu > Settings > System > Software Update.
