Garmin has quietly announced its next major software updates for its currently supported smartwatches and its latest cycling computer. To recap, the company last revealed an equivalent update package in May when it introduced its Rucking activity and a host of sleep improvements.
Since then, it has released the Forerunner 570, Forerunner 970 and Venu X1 (curr. $799.99 on Amazon), which are all part of this month's Feature Update. Specifically, the August 2025 Feature Update covers the following devices:
- Edge 1050
- Enduro 3
- Fenix E
- Fenix 8
- Forerunner 570
- Forerunner 970
- Quatix 8
- Tactix 8
- Venu X1
As the screenshots below show, Garmin has focused on six significant changes for its August 2025 Feature Update. With that being said, the company's comparison table highlights eighteen new features and improvements. Based on the latter, features like Running Tolerance, Triathlon Coach, Daily Suggested Track Workouts, Running Economy, Step Speed Loss and Evening Report are all new to the Venu X1, as well as the Fenix E, Fenix 8 and associated smartwatches like the Quatix 8.
Meanwhile, the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 have gained fewer changes this time around. The Edge 1050 is in line for a batch of cycling computer-specific improvements too. However, it remains to be seen whether any of these will reach older models like the Edge 840 and Edge 1040. Currently, Garmin estimates that it will offer these new features and refinements 'over the coming weeks'. Unfortunately, Garmin has not shared any specifics in this regard though. Please see the screenshots above and below for more details.
