It appears that the Garmin Pay contactless payment solution is being renamed. This feature allows users of the brand’s smartwatches to make payments while out and about without their phone or wallet.
According to a recent report by Garmin Rumors, Garmin Pay will be referred to as Garmin Wallet in the future. The functionality is not expected to change in the near future. As such, actions like setting up and managing cards and resetting a passcode will happen under the Wallet section. Unfortunately, the dedicated Garmin blog does not name the source of this information about the Garmin Pay rebrand.
Garmin Rumors also speculates that the rebrand to Garmin Wallet may signal an upgrade for this feature. It could be that Garmin is planning to allow users to access other items from their smartwatch, like a ticket or loyalty card. Garmin has yet to officially announce this rebrand of Garmin Pay to Garmin Wallet, and has not discussed whether or not it is planning to add more functionality in the future. As a reminder, Garmin Pay is available on many of the brand’s smartwatches, including the Fenix 8, Instinct 3 and vivoactive 5 (curr. $217.08 at Amazon).
