Asus recently unveiled one of the world's most impressive versions of the GeForce RTX 5090 at Gamescom. The graphics card features a striking red and black chassis, with a rounded bulge featuring RGB lighting and an infinity mirror. The GPU can be powered either via a 12-pin connector or via an Asus BTF motherboard, each with up to 600 watts.
When both connectors are combined, the graphics card draws up to 800 watts, enabling boost clock speeds of up to 2,730 MHz – 323 MHz or 13.4% more than the Nvidia Founders Edition. The higher power limit is said to even surpass high-end models like the Galax Hall of Fame GeForce RTX 5090.
To cool the GPU despite its high power dissipation, Asus has installed four fans, enabling 20% higher air pressure, which in turn allows Asus to utilize a heatsink with more fins. To transfer heat from the GPU to the heatsink, Asus combines liquid metal thermal paste with a copper vapor chamber, while even the motherboard is coated with copper. Another unique feature is the "Memory Defroster" feature designed to prevent memory chips from freezing when the graphics card is cooled with liquid nitrogen for extreme overclocking.
Price and availability
Asus is yet to confirm when or at what price the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 will be released, but the GPU is likely to be even more expensive than the Asus ROG Astral LC. Further details can be found on the official product page.
