Asus has joined Samsung in releasing its first 500 Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor in the US. Presented in June alongside three other OLED gaming monitors, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG relies upon the same QD-OLED panel found also not just in the Samsung Odyssey G60SF (curr. $999.99 on Amazon) but also in alternatives like the AOC Q27G4KD.
Moreover, Asus has managed to undercut Samsung by a significant margin despite equipping the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG with the same panel as the Odyssey G60SF Specifically, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG has arrived in the US for $899.99 when ordered from Asus' webstore. According to Asus, pre-orders should begin shipping on August 22. However, it seems that initial orders started reaching consumers on August 5.
As we have discussed previously, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG combines a 500 Hz refresh rate and a 1440p (2,560 x 1,440) resolution across a 27-inch panel. Ultimately, all monitors with the same QD-OLED panel should mirror these specifications. Asus attempts to distinguish the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG from its rivals by featuring a custom heatsink, a Neo Proximity Sensor and a 3-year warranty, full details of which can be found on its website. Currently, Eurozone retailers indicate that the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG carries a €1,149 MSRP in the Eurozone. Many have already discounted the monitor as low as €999, though.
