Back in May, Newegg was offering the Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED laptop with the Strix Point Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, 32 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, and a 2880x1800 OLED display for only $1,099.99. The price represented a 15% or $200 discount on the usual retail price of the Vivobook S 15 (M5506WA). Newegg has now put the notebook back on sale at an even better price.
The Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED (M5056WA) is now retailing for $1,049.99 on Newegg’s online store. The $250 price cut makes the laptop an extremely attractive option for both regular use and creative work, thanks to the powerful hardware.
The main draw of the Asus Vivobook S 15 is the impressive Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. With 12x Zen 5 cores under the hood, the Strix Point APU is a beastly performer that will handle anything you can throw at it. In our analysis, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 appeared on par with the likes of the Apple M3 Pro in multi-core and Intel's flagship Core i9-14900HX in single-core performance. However, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is much more efficient than Intel's chip.
The CPU component of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is combined with the Radeon 890M iGPU. Powered by the RDNA 3.5 architecture, the Radeon 890M is among the fastest gaming iGPUs on the market. So, while the Vivobook S 15 is not a gaming laptop, it can run games like well using low/medium settings.
Like the performance, the Asus Vivobook S 15’s 15.6-inch OLED display is also top-tier. It is plenty sharp at 2880x1800, with supreme contrast and good brightness (500 nits Peak HDR). The display is also rated for 100% DCI-P3, meaning it can be used for editing. Finally, a 120 Hz refresh rate ensures that dynamic elements like animations appear super smooth on the screen.
Rounding off the whole package is a single-zone RGB keyboard, a large trackpad, a large 75 Wh battery, and a diverse port selection. The ports include must-haves like a USB 4, a microSD slot, an HDMI 2.1, and more.
All in all, the Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED laptop marries high-end performance with good looks and an excellent OLED display. At just $1,049.99, the laptop has all the markings of a worthy daily-use notebook.
