Asus has joined Gigabyte and LG by adopting the latter's new Primary Tandem OLED panel. To recap, LG released the UltraGear OLED 27GX700A last week with various enhancements over the older UltraGear OLED 27GX790A (curr. $746.99 on Amazon). Then yesterday, Gigabyte started selling its alternative in China with significantly lower launch pricing than its LG counterpart.
Now, Asus has confirmed that it is using the same panel inside the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG. As such, Asus quotes 15% higher brightness in its press release compared with previous WOLED panels. In real terms, this should result in 335 nits peak SDR brightness and 1,500 nits across small areas with HDR mode activated. The new panel allows the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG to boast VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification, 99.5% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and Delta E<2 factory calibration too.
Moreover, Asus complements the monitor's 1440p resolution and 280 Hz refresh rate with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and a USB hub. On top of that, the company claims to have included a 30% smaller stand than those found on older 27-inch XG series monitors like the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG. Although Asus has not confirmed as much, TFT Central claims to have been informed that the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG will be available in Q4 2025 for $699.
