Earlier this week, we reported that Gigabyte had released its first Primary Tandem OLED gaming monitor. Initially available in China, TFT Central indicated a few months that the monitor would be reaching the US before the end of August. Now, the website has shared updated availability plans that it claims were officially provided by Gigabyte itself.
To recap, the Gigabyte MO27Q28G features the same Primary Tandem OLED panel as the LG UltraGear OLED 27GX700A that is now available in China and Hong Kong. However, the MO27Q28G arrived in China with a 37% lower MSRP than its LG counterpart. Incidentally, it seems that the UltraGear OLED 27GX700A will be much more expensive in the US than the Gigabyte MO27Q28G, too.
Nonetheless, the latter still contains modern ports DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports to complements its WOLED panel, as well as a four-port USB hub. Moreover, the panel itself peaks at 335 nits in SDR mode and 1,500 nits in small areas when viewing HDR content. On top of that, the MO27Q28G combines a 1440p resolution with a 280 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms GtG response times across a 27-inch diagonal.
In other words, while the MO27Q28G is not as fast as the Aorus FO27Q3 (curr. $699.99 on Amazon), it does get much brighter than its QD-OLED backed counterpart. Additionally, the MO27Q28G is significantly cheaper than the Aorus FO27Q3. According to TFT Central, Gigabyte still intends to offer the MO27Q28G for $499.99 despite the tariffs associated with the recent escalation in the China-United States trade war. Apparently, Gigabyte now hopes to launch the monitor globally on September 30 with availability scheduled 'around mid-October'.
