Despite leaks and rumors from datamines of Battlefield 6 playtests, EA has not shared any official announcement dates. But, if the latest information is accurate, we may get to experience the game as part of an open beta test, soon.

EA is planning on announcing Battlefield 6, or whatever the next Battlefield game ends up being called, later this year. A series of leaks and datamines have shared a lot of information about the upcoming game, and the latest leak hints at an open beta test likely coming soon.

One of the sources for a lot of leaks has been the BF1 Telegram channel where information from datamining the Battlefield Labs playtests has been shared over the past couple months. The latest shows mention of the phrase “Battlefield 6 Open Beta” in the latest client update, suggesting that an open beta test is imminent. An open beta means the game is mostly done, but may need some more content, some polishing and bugfixing, or some tertiary additions.

It is unclear if the beta test will allow players to check out all the modes, which seems unlikely. Recently, a short work in progress clip for the single player campaign surfaced online with unfinished textures and animations. So, even if there is an open beta test coming up, it is hard to say how soon that will be. More recently, some details about the campaign surfaced online as well.

Battlefield 6 is said to feature a single-player campaign, several multiplayer game modes, as well as a free-to-play battle royale mode. A clip for the starting of a battle royale match was recently leaked and it is believed that there will be some interesting mechanics pertaining to eliminated players.

Notably, these are supposed leaks from datamines and might not make it to the final game. However, mentions of an open beta suggest the development is progressing towards an official announcement.
