Battlefield 6 has been the talk of the town for quite some time now, more so after the official trailer on July 24. EA also announced that there will be an open beta starting soon and speculations suggest it will start on August 4. Now, fans have started receiving invites for the playtest, which, as it turns out, are fake and an attempt to steal user data.
As pointed out by Battlefield Bulletin on X, Instagram users are seeing a ‘Join the Playtest’ ad with a Steam link on their feeds. The Instagram post explains that the purpose of the test is to evaluate a limited set of Battlefield 6 features and stress-test the server. While it may look legit, it is actually fake and an attempt to steal the user’s Steam account. Avoid clicking the link if it pops up on your feed.
The first official trailer for the game showed some in-engine footage of the single-player campaign and also shared that the multiplayer reveal will take place on July 31. However, a lot about the game has already leaked courtesy of datamines and footage being shared from the Battlefield Labs playtests. Battlefield 6 will feature a single-player campaign, multiplayer game modes, and a free-to-play battle royale mode, the map for which was recently leaked.
It is unclear at this point if the multiplayer reveal on July 31 will include details about the battle royale mode or if it will have a separate reveal. As for the open beta, while EA has not shared a date yet, an August 4 start date has been floating around, though there are also reports claiming that date is inaccurate.
Recently, it was reported that EA may have accidentally hinted at the release date for the game. The legal disclaimers page for the Standard Edition of Battlefield 6 mentioned October 10 as the end of pre-order, suggesting the game will launch on October 11.
