The title will keep things more 'grounded' than the competition when it comes to its in-game cosmetics as per its design director.

At a multiplayer event in London, Battlefield 6’s design director Shashank Uchil confirmed prior reports that the game will release on October 10, 2025, while shedding some light on the cosmetics it would potentially offer. He stated that EA’s upcoming tactical FPS won’t feature extravagant crossover skins and will aim for a more visually authentic experience.

Shashank Uchil spoke with DBLTAP at the multiplayer event and pointed at Battlefield 6’s artwork, saying, “It has to be grounded, it’s going to be like this. That’s what Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 were – it was all soldiers, on the ground. It’s going to be like this.

Further in the interview, the design director took a clean swipe at Call of Duty’s recent operator skins by referencing Nicki Minaj. In Uchil’s own words, “I don’t think it needs Nicki Minaj. Let’s keep it real, keep it grounded.”

This remark from Uchil clears the air. Battlefield 6 won’t feature any over-the-top cosmetic bundles, but skins that retain the game’s core identity and appeal. The game is trying to capture the charm of Battlefield 3 and 4’s realistic and gritty tone, which, according to the fan base, is the franchise’s golden age.

On the other end of the spectrum, Call of Duty has recently dipped its knees deep into crossover skins, featuring the likes of Snoop Dogg, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, American Dad, Beavis and Butt-Head, and more, with fans disappointed in the “Fortnite-ification” of the franchise.

But that’s not to say the game won’t feature cosmetics or skins. A statement posted by CharlieIntel on their official X account revealed a vague comment by the developers, “The thing we can say, we are a military shooter in modern times.”

Furthermore, EA’s Vice President Vince Zampella spoke on the Friends Per Second podcast and stated that the game is a “spiritual successor” to Battlefield 3 and 4. Zampella stated:

“Battlefield is a two-decade-old franchise with some of the biggest, most iconic games. When Battlefield hits and does things right, it goes bonkers, right? What would the next spiritual successor kind of look like? That’s where we started.”

EA reportedly expects 100 million players to hop on Battlefield 6, and it’s a pretty ambitious target for the company. The Battlefield fan base is pretty hopeful for a faithful, yet modernized adaptation of the franchise’s golden age. Time will tell when the game officially releases on October 10, 2025, for the Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and PC.
