Ever since Nintendo decided to price some of its games at $80, other publishers have started doing the same and most have received backlash for their decisions. EA, one of the largest publishers on the other hand, seems to be holding off on upping its prices, at least for now. This indicates that Battlefield 6 will not be $80, which is good news for fans and sort of in line with the latest pricing leaks.
As reported by IGN, during the latest earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson responded to an investor question about games being priced at $80 and said, “We're not looking to make any changes on pricing at this stage.” He went on to explain that EA wants to capture the full spectrum of pricing to give players the best experience possible. “We'll continue to look at opportunities to deliver great value to our players through various pricing schemes over the course of time, but no dramatic changes planned yet,” Wilson concluded.
While this doesn’t confirm the pricing for the upcoming AAA title Battlefield 6, it does suggest that it will not cost $80. A recent pricing leak claimed that the Standard Edition for the game will cost €70 on PC and €80 on consoles. The Phantom Edition, on the other hand, is said to cost €100 on PC and €110 on consoles. When it comes to US pricing, it could be a 1:1 conversation, which now seems more likely, and it would put the starting price at $70.
Looking at the pricing for Battlefield 2042, it costs $60 on PC and $70 on console. Battlefield 6 could also follow the same trend and be $10 more for console players, still putting it at $80. However, with Wilson claiming no changes to pricing at this stage, the game could stick to the $60 PC and $70 console pricing, which would be the ideal scenario.
