Without much fanfare, EA recently revealed a Battlefield 6 open beta on social media. Now, there are more details on a potential start time, courtesy of the 1BF Telegram channel. 1BF has been the source of many Battlefield leaks, including details on multiplayer maps and the single-player campaign. The latest rumor reveals that the public playtest will launch on Monday, August 4th. The prediction matches an earlier report originating from EA App API data.
Despite 1BF's relatively strong track record, Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming casts doubt on the August 4th date. He argues that the creators covering the multiplayer reveal on July 31st wouldn't have enough time to return home before the beta starts.
The Telegram channel didn't wait long to respond to Henderson's social media post. 1BF clarified that August 4th should be when the game appears in the EA app. Preloading files could start then, but the beta test may not commence until a slightly later date.
If the Battlefield 6 playtest actually begins when rumored, the exact start time will depend on a player's time zone. Gamers in the United States can experience the first-person shooter for the first time at 11 AM EST/8 AM PST. Some fans find the choice of a Monday odd, which may support Henderson's claim. Nevertheless, the open beta could still run through the following weekend.
Fans will likely learn more about the beta when EA hosts a multiplayer reveal event on July 31st. Thanks to an endless parade of Battlefield 6 leaks, there might not be many surprises during the showcase. Still, players could find out more about what modes the playtest will offer, and whether there will be early access.
One key detail that EA has already made known is that testers can choose playlists with open or closed weapons. The open option takes its cues from Battlefield 2042, where more weapons are available regardless of class. Depending on player feedback, the developers could carry over the system to the final release.
Another tidbit from the 1BF relates to stat tracking. Players will be able to analyze their performance during the Battlefield 6 playtest on a web page. However, any accomplishments will likely disappear before the official Battlefield 6 release date.
