EA CEO Andrew Wilson has shared that the next Battlefield game will debut by March 2026. The news isn't shocking since the company previously slated Battlefield 6 for a fiscal year 2026 release. Still, after the GTA 6 delay, analysts expected a series of announcements from competitors. According to Variety, the latest update came during an EA financial report for January 1st to March 31st.
The previous Battlefield 6 release date projection also had it surfacing by the end of March 2026. However, the date doesn't rule out a holiday 2025 appearance. Wilson also did not backtrack on an official summer announcement during the latest fiscal report. Despite attempts to minimize leaks, Battlefield Labs playtests have exposed details about the shooter. Nevertheless, to avoid another Battlefield 2042 disaster, developers are open to making substantial changes.
Wilson earlier had suggested that GTA 6 could influence the Battlefield 6 release date. At least for now, it doesn't appear that the postponement of the action RPG has affected EA's plans. Even so, many gamers think the company will push the next Battlefield game to market by November/December. Without the Rockstar Games blockbuster to contend with, publishers can more easily market titles during the holiday season.
EA has also been facing financial setbacks that Battlefield 6 might cure. It recently dismissed Respawn Entertainment developers and canceled an unreleased Titanfall project. Layoffs also rocked Codemasters, as work ceased on EA Sports WRC. Even so, Wilson was quick to point out the publisher's success stories. Split Fiction and College Football 25 were two titles that provided a much-needed boost.
