Apex Legends has been a much bigger hit for its developer Respawn Games than the Titanfall series as recently highlighted when it broke the 100 million unique player milestone. Although Titanfall and Titanfall 2 have hard-core fans who love its faced paced 5v5 battles modes mixed with wall running and titans mechs, Apex Legends arrived at the height of the popularity of free-to-play Battle Royale games like PUBG.
Season 9 is dropping on May 4 in an update that Respawn has dubbed ‘Legacy’ for good reason -- it is the most Titanfall-like gaming mode in Apex Legends with 3v3 two team head-to-head skirmishes held over several rounds. With new maps that encourage tighter and faster gameplay that you don’t typically find in Battle Royale games, Titanfall fans will find this is much more like what they are used to from the Titanfall franchise.
The ‘Legacy’ update also brings a new legend in the form of Valkyrie who is descended from the bloodline of Titanfall’s Pilots and represents the Apex Predators faction from Titanfall. The new gaming mode and legend looks set to live up to the promise of Chad Grenier (Apex Legends’ director) who said recently, “If you’re a Titanfall fan, hang on for Season 9 because there’s going to be some really cool stuff there”. The just-released teaser video below does indeed look really cool.
