Much like Half-Life 3, there has been an overwhelming amount of speculation regarding the launch date of GTA 6. A somewhat sketchy report from a reputable source said the game might be pushed back to 2026. Much to the dismay of fans, that turned out to be true.
In a generic statement on its X account, Rockstar Games said the GTA VI launch date has been pushed back to May 26, 2026. The company says it needs more time to polish the game, which is puzzling, given it has been in the oven for well over a decade. That said, expectations are sky-high and it is better to delay a game than launch it in an unfinshed state.
This also means PC players will have to wait even longer before they can get their hands on GTA 6. A 2026 release on consoles means a 2027-28 launch on PC, which is a frustratingly long wait. Nevertheless, it isn't necessarily a bad thing as you now have well over a year to save up for a new console/PC and finally play GTA VI when it launches.
