Rockstar Games has just dropped Trailer 2 of GTA VI, and in just around 1 hour of the video being uploaded, it got over 1 million likes, and as of writing, the likes count is sitting at the 5 million mark. Besides being a successful game trailer reveal, it has also showcased Grand Theft Auto 6 in enhanced detail, and as Rockstar has confirmed, the entire clip was captured on a PlayStation 5 and not on the PS5 Pro.
In a post on X, Rockstar Games adds that Trailer 2 has a mix of real-time gameplay and in-game cutscenes. The fact that it's not easy to discern between these two is an impressive achievement for the game. Returning to the fact that the new trailer of GTA 6 is being captured on a PS5, multiple YouTubers have analyzed everything about the video, and most praise the environments, special effects such as explosions, and especially the character details.
Of course, as Digital Foundry noted, specific details and a few bits of aliasing don't really look as good as they could have on the new trailer. It's possible these won't be an issue on the PlayStation 5 Pro, given that the newer console has much more capable hardware than the non-Pro PS5.
Digital Foundry has also added that GTA 6 is more likely to be capped at 30 FPS at launch, even on the PS5 Pro. This speculation isn't just based on how good Grand Theft Auto VI looks in general. Instead, it's more about Rockstar's history of releasing major games without a 60 FPS mode at launch.
As for a Nintendo Switch 2 version that's in the talks, Digital Foundry thinks that GTA VI is "too big" for the console. The analysts speculate that the Steam Deck or even the ROG Ally X and Legion Go (curr. $599.99 on Best Buy) may not be able to run Grand Theft Auto 6. But then again, Rockstar Games hasn't revealed anything about its future plans about bringing support for gaming handhelds. It's possible that the developers may already be working to optimize the game as much as possible to get it running smoothly on relatively low-specced systems.
