Battlefield 6 leak sparks fury: EA reportedly plans aggressive monetization with ‘Battlefield Pro’ subscription
Following the recent buzz around game pricing sparked by anticipated titles like GTA 6 and Mario Kart World, EA might soon find itself in the spotlight – not for pricing, but for the aggressive monetization of Battlefield 6. According to dataminers, a broad monetization model called Battlefield Pro could be in the works for the next entry in the shooter series.
According to a report by MP1st, the leak is based on information datamined directly from Battlefield Labs. However, the absence of solid, verifiable sources or any official confirmation does cast some doubt on its credibility. Even so, respected outlets like Insider Gaming and the German magazine GameStar have picked up the story, suggesting that the topic carries some weight. According to the available information, Battlefield Pro appears to follow a model similar to subscription services like Fortnite Crew or the R6 Membership in Rainbow Six Siege. Subscribers are expected to receive the following benefits:
- Battle Pass included
- +10% XP boost on Battle Pass progress
- 20 Tier Jumps right from the start
- 6 exclusive instant unlocks, presumably of cosmetic nature
- Persistent servers in portal mode - users should be able to run their own servers permanently
- Additional bonus path with further content over the course of a season
- Exclusive challenges (Pro Challenges) with rewards
- Access to older challenges from previous seasons
- A "Pro Radio Station", the function of which is still unclear
A premium subscription for Battlefield would align well with EA’s past approach to monetization.
