It looks like Titanfall 3 may never see the light of day as every report of its existence is seemingly squashed shortly after. This time, a Bloomberg report claims that the massive layoffs at EA include members of the Respawn team working on the next Titanfall.

Once again, a report about Titanfall 3’s existence has been followed by a report about its demise. The latest is that Electronic Arts, owner of Titanfall series developer Respawn Entertainment, has laid off over 300 employees, a third of which are from Respawn. The developer also shared a statement on X explaining the new direction they are headed in, and that two early-stage projects have now been scrapped.

The information comes from Bloomberg stating that around 300 to 400 employees have been laid off at EA and about 100 of those are from the Respawn team. It adds that those laid off were developing Titanfall and one additional project. Respawn also shared an update on X wherein it mentions “two early-stage incubation projects” that the team is stepping away from. While not named specifically, it is believed that one of these projects was the next Titanfall game.

The announcement also talks about making “targeted team adjustments” across Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi franchise, adding that those affected by these decisions will get “meaningful support” and some may even get absorbed back into EA. The team, however, will continue to support and improve Apex Legends, as well as the next game in the Star Wars Jedi series.

It should be noted that neither EA nor Respawn specifically mention Titanfall as one of the abandoned projects. Furthermore, previous leaks have suggested that Titanfall 3 is in its advanced stages and that it is almost complete. Whether or not the game actually exists is still a mystery, but chances are it will never see the light of day.
