New Star Wars shooter from Respawn: according to rumors, this time it's all about a Mandalorian
The Californian development studio Respawn Entertainment, which has already successfully released several Star Wars games in recent years, including the popular "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order"(available here on Amazon) and its successor "Survivor"(available here on Amazon), is working on a new title within the Star Wars universe - this time a first-person shooter. The fact that industry veteran Peter Hirschmann is involved in the game raises expectations even further, as there is now an impressively long list of games that Hirschmann has worked on - including Medal of Honor.
Mandalorian as the main protagonist
According to an article on Insider Gaming written by Tom Henderson, players will take on the role of a Mandalorian in the new Star Wars shooter. It is possible that this will be a well-known character, such as Boba Fett. The story is set at a time when the Empire was at the height of its power - between Episodes 3 and 4. As a bounty hunter, players will be able to hunt down fugitive criminals in linear levels and deliver them dead or alive.
Typical for Mandalorians, many small gadgets will presumably be available - such as wrist missiles, grappling hooks or a visor for tracking enemies. A jetpack that enables horizontal and vertical jumps could provide mobility in battles. According to Henderson, it is likely that the game will take another year or two to develop.
No official information, but reliable sources
The fact that Respawn is working on a first-person shooter in the Star Wars universe and that Peter Hirschmann is involved has already been confirmed by publisher Electronic Arts. All other information is still to be classified as speculation. However, there is a good chance that the information is correct. After all, Ton Henderson is a well-connected insider who has repeatedly made accurate predictions in the past without naming specific sources.
