Respawn's and EA's highly-anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is scheduled to launch later this month on April 26. It isn't as demanding as some other games launched in 2023 and should run well on most PCs. However, its game size has now ballooned from 130 GB to 155 GB. Twitter user @DaiIySWGames spotted the change on EA's website.
This puts it well beyond the often-laughed-at Call of Duty franchise, which has become notorious for its obnoxiously large game sizes. Exactly what EA and Respawn plan to pack in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor that requires 155 GB of disk space remains to be seen. The fact that its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, takes up only about 56 GB on PC makes it more puzzling. The transition to Unreal Engine 5 may have something to do with it.
Whether or not Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's console versions will have the same size remains to be seen. They could shave a few GB off at best, but that still implies one has to set aside 125+ GB on their consoles. The game's gargantuan size will be extra painful for PS5 owners, who already have just 665 GB of space to work with. However, they have the option to buy off-the-shelf SSDs. On the other hand, Xbox players have to either delete some games or pay ludicrous prices for Microsoft's proprietary storage solutions for the Xbox Series X|S.
