Alongside the Q27G4SMN, AOC has also introduced the Q27G4SP gaming monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. Both of the gaming monitors are 27 inches in size and look almost identical, but differ greatly in terms of display technology.
The Q27G4SMN, which we have covered previously, sports a Fast VA panel with mini LED backlighting and 1,152 dimming zones, allowing for excellent contrast levels. However, like most VA panels, viewing angles might suffer. On the other hand, the Q27G4SP features a Fast IPS panel with no dimming zones, and a far inferior peak brightness of 450 nits in HDR and 350 nits in SDR mode. AOC also claims a GtG response time of 1 ms.
That said, the IPS panel will likely allow for better viewing angles, and the Q27G4SP also sports a slightly higher refresh rate of 320 Hz. Color coverage is slightly worse, at 95% coverage of the P3 gamut compared to the SMN's 97%. The panel should still be pretty accurate, with a claimed ΔE of less than 2. Clearly, productivity experience on the Q27G4SP is unlikely to be bad.
Ergonomic adjustment options include tilt, swivel, height (130 mm), and 90º pivot. Option for VESA mounting is unsurprisingly present. As mentioned earlier, both the monitors follow an identical design language. The ports on offer include dual HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and audio out. Pricing and availability details for the gaming monitor, unfortunately, are unclear as of this writing.
Possible alternative: 27" Asus TUF 300 Hz gaming monitor (curr. $199 on Amazon).
