AOC has announced the Agon 25G4KUR gaming monitor in Europe, boasting a 24.5-inch Fast IPS panel. Unlike the 27-inch Q27 monitors which we covered recently, we have concrete pricing and availability information regarding the 25G4KUR.
420 Hz peak refresh rate for fast-paced gaming
The gaming monitor features a 24.5-inch FHD display, along with an impressive refresh rate of 400 Hz and a GtG response time of 1 ms. With OC, the monitor can reach 420 Hz as well. Clearly, the 25G4KUR gaming monitor is targeted at fast-paced esports, where speed is far more important than visual quality or eye-popping pixel density. Folks who prefer the best of both worlds will have to shell out extra for the pricier Agon U27G4XM.
AOC further states that the 25G4KUR gaming monitor will be able to hit a peak HDR and SDR brightness of 400 and 350 nits respectively. The claimed 92% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut is respectable, but nothing to write home about. For fast-paced esports, the color performance of the monitor should be decent enough.
The I/O on offer is pretty impressive, and includes dual HDMI 2.0, single DisplayPort 1.4, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-B, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, as well as an audio jack. The HDMI 2.0 ports can only handle up to 240 Hz, making the DisplayPort 1.4 port compulsory to reach the advertised 400 Hz. Ergonomic adjustments include tilt, height, swivel, and 90º pivot.
The AOC Agon 25G4KUR gaming monitor will be available towards the end of November, at a starting price of £209.99. As of this writing, it is unclear if and when the monitor will launch outside of Europe. For US customers looking for a similar monitor during Black Friday, the Asus XG259QNS might be a good option (curr. $359 on Amazon).
