LG has returned to its Magnit Smart TV series, three years after it introduced what it marketed as the Magnit 4K 136-inch Micro LED in October 2022. Now, the company has returned with a new 136-inch example, which is significantly larger than already gargantuan 116-inch TVs like Hisense's 116U75QG that launched in the US earlier this month (curr. $16,999 on Amazon).
Specifically, the Magnit Active Micro LED is roughly 3 metres wide while being 1.7 metres tall. As a result, the Smart TV only provides a pixel density of 32 PPI while outputting at its native 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160). Apparently, the Smart TV's Micro LED backlights allow it to deliver a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. There is no word yet on peak brightness values in SDR or HDR modes, though.
Setting that omission aside, the Magnit Active Micro LED also delivers a 144 Hz refresh rate, which works with LG's Active Matrix technology to reduce response times by controlling individual pixels like OLED panels. Unfortunately, LG has not shared more details yet. Instead, it has focused on including a 6th Generation α9 AI Processor, as well as a 4.2-channel built-in speaker system that outputs at up to 100 W.
The LG Magnit Active Micro LED is only available in South Korea for now. The Smart TV should reach North America and other markets eventually, although LG has not specified when yet. For context, LG priced the older Magnit 4K 136-inch for $299,999.99 in 2022.
