Denon AVC-X2850H: New 7.2-ch 8K AV receiver offers Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and HEOS
Denon recently introduced the AVC-X2850H. It’s a new entry-level AV receiver, and numerous European retailers are already selling it for an official MSRP of €839. The new AVC-X2850H is the entry-level model in Denon's X series, but it offers more power than the AVC-X1800H (from $699 on Amazon US) for the same price. This is a 7.2-channel 8K AV amplifier with 150 watts per channel, which should be sufficient, especially for smaller home theaters and living rooms.
In addition to 8K video and 4K upscaling, the Denon AVC-X2850H supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, among other features. The 7.2 channels can also be configured as a 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos or DTS:X setup. The AVR manufacturer further promises clear and dynamic sound thanks to high-current amplifiers and support for playback formats up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
Denon claims that the AV receiver is quickly ready to use thanks to a setup assistant. The system can be fine-tuned with Audyssey MultEQ XT. Six HDMI ports are available, three of which are 8K capable and also support eARC, ALLM and VRR. Additionally, there are two HDMI outputs for connecting a TV and a projector, for example.
WiFi and Bluetooth are built-in as well. Furthermore, the Denon AVC-X2850H supports HEOS, which can be useful for integrating the AVR into multiroom audio setups. Playback from two sources in two zones or rooms is also possible. For instance, a movie with surround sound can be enjoyed in the living room while a podcast plays in the kitchen.
