The brand name OXS may sound familiar to some readers, as the company ran a Kickstarter campaign a few years ago. Since then, OXS has also celebrated its official launch in Germany and other markets. Now, the company has a new audio product in the works, namely the OXS Thunder Duo, which is set to launch on Kickstarter on October 28.
Although this is labeled as a preorder, the usual risks of crowdfunding campaigns still apply. The Thunder Duo will cost $400, the Thunder Duo X $449 and the Thunder Duo Max will be priced at $569. These lower prices are the result of a preorder discount or promotion.
The new OXS speaker systems are intended to be placed on a desktop, so they should be usable with a gaming PC or consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The Thunder Duo Max are the top version and come with a wireless subwoofer, which should offer a more powerful bass. On the other hand, the Thunder Duo X are a 5.1.2-channel system with neck speakers as satellites, so the satellites move along with the gaming chair.
Moreover, the Thunder Duo are advertised as a 3.1.2-channel speaker system with an RMS power of 110 watts and a peak output of 220 watts. The audio setup can be hooked up via HDMI 2.1 with eARC support, via USB Type-C or wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.3. RGB lighting is integrated. These speakers iare designed to be more or less modularly upgradable, allowing users to potentially save money on their initial purchase and then upgrade later on.
