Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2: New Xiaomi waterproof mini speaker now available globally for around $35
Last month, Xiaomi added to its extensive accessories line-up with the Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2, a small wireless speaker that measures a mere 146 x 98 x 46 mm, including a built-in loop and metal buckle. Now, that same speaker can be picked up globally, albeit not via official channels.
Instead, a few popular resellers are now offering the Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 on AliExpress. Currently, the cheapest of those is Mi House Trader, which is offering Xiaomi's recent wireless speaker in all of its Black, Green and Orange launch colour options. At the time of writing, the Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 costs around $35 before applying any of AliExpress' endless discount codes or coupons.
To recap, the Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 features a 1.5-inch speaker driver that delivers 5 W of power. Apparently, the speaker should last for around 5 hours on its 1,000 mAh at around 80% volume too. Xiaomi does not provide battery life statistics for the speaker at peak volumes, though.
Regardless, the Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 is IP67 certified and supports music playback via Bluetooth 5.3, a microSD card or a USB Type-C connection. On top of that, two Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 units can be connected to deliver stereo audio. At this stage, it is unclear whether Xiaomi plans to offer the Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 officially outside its home market, like the Sound Pocket Portable 5W speaker (curr. $25 on Amazon).
