Last week, details about a new mini-PC emerged that looked more like an Apple HomePod (curr. $339 on Amazon) than a conventional mini-PC. As we discussed at the time, the machine is sold under various brands on AliExpress, like the Soayan EXR1 or the Chatreey EX1. Now, GTBox has emerged as another supplier globally with the GTBox T1.
Available via MiniXPC or GTBox directly, the GTBox T1 appears to be an exact copy of the Soayan EXR1 or the Chatreey EX1. Therefore, the GTBox T1 features built-in stereo speakers for conferencing purposes. Additionally, the mini-PC includes a Ryzen 7 8745HS APU from AMD's Hawk Point family. Built on a 4 nm manufacturing process with 8 Zen 4 cores clocked at 4.9 GHz, the Ryzen 7 8745HS also has a 35 W thermal design power (TDP) at its disposal, like the nominally more powerful Ryzen 7 8845HS that we have reviewed in the Geekom A8 Max mini-PC and several laptops.
As a result, the GTBox T1 also has AMD's Radeon 780M iGPU, which should be powerful enough to emulate many triple-A games at 1080p and low graphics settings enabled. Alternatively, the mini-PC can be hooked up to an eGPU for more graphics power via its USB 4 port. As the image below shows, the GTBox T1 features Ethernet, DisplayPort 2.0, HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-A ports, which all sit on the device's rear panel.
On top of that, the mini-PC contains SODIMM DDR5 RAM and an M.2 SSD. Unfortunately, GTBox warns that disassembling its 167 x 112 mm mini-PC is a destructive process. Currently, the GTBox T1 is available on GTBox's website with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for $549.99, including a $50 launch discount. Alternatively, Minixpc currently stocks the same SKU for $599.99.
