Asus has finally released the ROG XG Mobile 2025, over nine months after its initial debut. Announced in January during CES 2025, Asus subsequently outlined that the eGPU would be available in late February. Additionally, it claimed that Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU variants would retail for $1,199.99 and $2,199.99, respectively.
However, none of this came to pass. For the time being, Asus is not offering either ROG XG Mobile 2025 variant through its retail platform. Instead, EXcaliber PC has started stocking both ROG XG Mobile 2025 variants in the US, or the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti variant or on Amazon when selecting Amazon as the seller rather than EXcaliber PC. Unfortunately, both ROG XG Mobile models are more expensive than Asus' original prices.
On the one hand, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti variant now costs $1,299.99, or CNY 7,999 (~$1,124) in China. On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 5090 option has jumped from $2,199.99 to $2,499.99 in the US, which corresponds with a CNY 16,999 (~$2,389) Chinese MSRP. According to our benchmarks, this price differential correlates with a 40% advantage for the GeForce RTX 5090 in games and a 30% advantage in benchmarks.
Regardless of GPU variant, the ROG XG Mobile features a single Thunderbolt 5 port that provides up to 140 W via USB Power Delivery 3.1. Moreover, the eGPU features a UHS-II microSD card reader and a Gigabit Ethernet port, as well as DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 (FRL) video outputs. All this hardware is powered by a 330 W AC adapter, which helps contribute to the eGPU's 952 g weight and 296 x 208 x 155 mm dimensions. While GeForce RTX 5070 Ti variants are in stock now, its GeForce RTX 5090 counterpart will not begin shipping until November 7 in the US.
