The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 4 Pro Dual Camera Edition has been released in China. This new smart home product arrives a couple of months after the brand launched the original Smart Door Lock 4 Pro in this market.
Like its predecessor, the new Smart Door Lock 4 Pro Dual Camera Edition offers twelve unlocking methods. These include AI facial recognition, palm vein recognition, fingerprint recognition, NFC, Bluetooth and a passcode. As usual, there is a physical backup key in case of emergencies. While the standard model has a single 2MP camera with a 152° field of view (FOV), the new version has a 3MP camera with a 160° FOV and a second 2MP camera with a 128° FOV.
On the internal half of the Smart Door Lock 4 Pro is a 3.97-inch screen, which you can use to see who is at your door before answering. The model supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, with users able to remotely view the video live stream in the Xiaomi Home app. Through the app, you can get also notifications when someone is at your door or if the lock is tampered with. Another upgrade with the Dual Camera Edition is a larger power pack, with a 6,870 mAh lithium battery and four AA alkaline batteries; this should allow it to run for up to six months between charges.
Xiaomi’s Smart Door Lock 4 Pro Dual Camera Edition retails for CNY 2,899 (~$408) in China, making it CNY 400 (~$56) more expensive than the original. Xiaomi has yet to release a smart door lock in other markets like Europe, where it already sells products like the Smart Doorbell 3S (curr. €89.99 at Xiaomi Germany). However, a new Self-Install Smart Lock could launch in this region in the future.
