Xiaomi is about to begin a crowdfunding campaign for the new Smart Control Screen. This wall-mounted gadget is designed to provide a central point from which to control your smart home devices.
The Xiaomi Smart Control Screen features a 3.83 inch (~97.3 mm) display, with a Space Gray or White frame. According to the product listing, it can be used to control over 5,500 smart home products, though only 48 devices can be displayed across the twelve screens. You can use the touchscreen to trigger connected smart lights and robot vacuums, for example, and you can also view video from linked smart cameras. Alternatively, it supports voice commands and remote app-based controls.
On top of this, the Smart Control Screen can display information like the time, the weather and your calendar events. It supports Xiaomi HyperOS, with dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi. Plus, it can act as a Xiaomi Mesh 2.0 gateway for enhanced connection stability. The smart screen measures 86.0 x 86.0 x 39.4 mm (~3.4 x 3.4 x 1.6 inches).
In China, backers will be asked to pledge CNY 369 (~$52) to get the Xiaomi Smart Control Screen through the Youpin crowdfunding campaign from November 10th. According to the product page, the smart home device will retail for CNY 399 (~$56), though it is unclear when it will go on general sale. Whether or when this product could be released in Europe remains to be seen; in countries like Germany, the brand already sells the older Smart Home Hub 2 (curr. €39.99 at Mi Store).
