Xiaomi has revealed the Smart Door Lock M40 Pro in China. This new smart home device has integrated cameras, allowing you to remotely see who is at your door, and can be unlocked in many ways.
The Smart Door Lock M40 Pro offers a total of twelve unlocking methods; these include palm vein recognition, 3D structured light facial recognition and a fingerprint scanner. On the external unit, there are two cameras, a main 3MP camera with a 175° field-of-view (FOV), and a secondary 2MP camera with a 128° FOV. These offer low-light full color night vision and IR night vision modes, with AI recognition of people and packages.
On the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 Pro’s internal unit is a 5-inch screen, where you can view a live video feed. Users can watch live and historical video in the Xiaomi app, through which you can also be alerted if someone is tampering with the lock. The device supports Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and is compatible with Xiaomi HyperOS Connect for wider smart home linkage. This smart lock has a C-level lock cylinder, which is said to operate relatively quietly. Plus, it should run for around six months on the 8,000 mAh lithium battery and four AA batteries.
In China, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 Pro will retail for CNY 3,799 (~$533). It is unclear whether or not this product could make it to other markets like Europe, where you can already buy products like the Smart Doorbell 3S (curr. €89.99 at Xiaomi Germany).
