IKEA has officially announced its upcoming Kajplats smart light bulb range. Rumors about some of these products began earlier this year, when a Zigbee 3.0 certificate for the Kajplats globe lights was found in the database of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA).
There are eleven Kajplats smart bulbs on the way to markets worldwide. The range includes dimmable globe-shaped E27/E26 bulbs with a 60 mm (~2.4 inch) diameter. Customers will be able to choose between white spectrum and color and white spectrum versions, with three maximum brightness levels: 470 lumens, 1,055 lumens and 1,521 lumens. There will be three P45 E14 smart bulbs with a 45 mm (~1.8 inch) diameter, again with white and white/color options. Plus, the white spectrum version is offered with two maximum brightness levels: 470 lumens and 806 lumens
IKEA’s Kajplats line-up has two GU10 directional spotlights, a color and white spectrum model with up to 370 lumens brightness, and a white spectrum variant with up to 575 lumens brightness. Finally, there are three clear glass decorative bulbs. E14 and E27 standard globe 60 mm (~2.4 inch) options have 470 lumens brightness, while the larger E27 large globe 95 mm (~3.7 inch) delivers up to 810 lumens.
According to IKEA, the Kajplats products offer various upgrades compared to their Tradfri predecessors, like more colors, a wider light intensity range and enhanced functionality. As announced in July 2025, IKEA's next generation of smart home products will support the Matter protocol, meaning they can integrate with a wide range of smart home ecosystems.
So far, the company has only hinted at the pricing in the UK, stating that its new smart bulbs will be priced between £4 and £9. In the US, the Kajplats range is expected to launch in April 2026.
