Sony XAV-AX3700 debuts as versatile, accessible Anti-Glare Touchscreen in-car AV receiver
The XAV-AX3700 is a relatively compact, wallet-friendly addition to Sony's line of in-car AV receivers. Nevertheless, it integrates features such as FLAC, LDAC and Apple CarPlay support, not to mention the ability to hook rear-facing parking cameras to its matte display, which is found above large physical buttons to control its more customizable interface.
Sony has launched the new XAV-AX3700 at an MSRP of $399.99, as opposed to $898 for its AX8500 sibling on Amazon right now. Nevertheless, both "Digital Multimedia Receivers" have the same iDatalink Maestro and 3-pre out links to get FLAC audio files using the LDAC codec flowing through a car's audio system.
The XAV-AX3700 also has Sony Quick Wake Up for its "Sleek" 6.95-inch anti-glare touch-enabled display, which is also one of the OEM's first to have a UI with the option to remove the standard central clock from its customizable homescreen background.
The new receiver has the single-DIN form-factor for an optimal "Space Saving" fit, and has a reversible USB-C port but no wireless connectivity. Similarly, the XAV-AX3700 is rated to support Apple CarPlay (and SiriusXM Radio) with no mention of Android Auto.
The "Simple Button"-equipped XAV-AX3700 should start to become available from June 2024 through authorized Sony dealers.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
