The Hisense Vidda C5 Borderless Master tri-color laser cinema projector has been launched in China. As its name suggests, the model builds on earlier Vidda series devices, with several enhancements.
The Vidda C5 is a 4K projector with a laser light source, said to generate up to 6,800 CVIA lumens brightness. It is worth noting that CVIA is not an internationally recognised standard, and the company has yet to provide a brightness measurement in line with another standard like ISO or ANSI. The model supports a 4K@60Hz or 1080p@240Hz resolution, with 110% coverage of the BT.2020 color space, and support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced and Filmmaker Mode. Other listed specifications include an 8,000:1 native contrast ratio, a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 0.84-2.0:1 throw ratio for images up to 300 inches wide.
Hisense also claims that the Vidda C5 offers the industry’s widest lossless optical zoom range at 2.38x. There is an integrated 2.1 channel sound system from JBL, and a range of ports including two HDMI 2.1 inputs, which could be used to connect a games console. Plus, it supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and can be remotely controlled with voice commands.
In China, the Hisense Vidda C5 Borderless Master tri-color laser cinema projector retails for CNY 24,999 (~$3,510). It is already available to import to North America and Europe via Alibaba, where you can currently pre-order the product for $3,650.00/£2,757.14/€3,176.66. That makes it more expensive than the older Hisense C2 Ultra (curr. $2,497.97 at Amazon).
